After All is the Los Angeles based duo of Shaniqwa Jarvis and Joanna Bean. This neo geo piece was created in collaboration with photographer Lydia Burkhalter. I want to go where waves look like this. Google earth will know.

There is something fascinating about observing people and human behavior on public transportation. My favorite story thus far is watching someone bring a terribly ugly coffee table onto the bus during rush hour and then get angry with people for running into it as they try and pass this ridiculous item. Luis Mallo, however, is fascinated with passenger’s hands. “During the mid-90’s, standing over seated passengers during rush hour, Mr. Mallo used a small camera and natural light to photograph riders up close and unaware.” Also quite interesting is the fact he only photographed when the weather was cold enough to require a coat so you couldn’t tell a person’s age and to keep the focus on the hands. Quite beautiful.

Happy Monday folks. You may question my use of “Happy” before “Monday,” as these words seems unrelated. A few reasons why: 1) Barack OBAMA is our new elected president!!! (and yeah, it is appropriate to use three exclamation points on that sentence.) 2) I developed my first roll of film from my Supersampler and it turned out awesome 3) Yes we can. I just started a new set on Flickr, so be sure to check it out.

I added the second addition to my Lomography camera collection yesterday by purchasing the SuperSampler. And I do believe the name “super” is not an understatement. A fellow friend and Lomo obssesser, Lisa, had persuaded me to not buy the Octomat (what I originally wanted) and buy this one. What I love about this one is that there is no viewfinder so what you photograph is a somewhat a surprise. I’ve never been so excited to develop film. It’s like digging into a Cracker Jacks box and getting the plastic parachute man. To be continued…

New York based photographer, Phillip Toledano, has some amazing, conceptual photography. Refreshing to see someone experimenting with ideas. And by experimenting, I mean, who doesn’t like fluorescent piss? See more here.

Ill-Studio is a French group of collaborators devoted to fine arts. They recently curated an event with Scion in Los Angeles called “The Art of Music” that included artists Steven Harrington and Alter. Sorry folks, but the show just ended. On a brighter note, I met one of the collabrators of Ill-Studio, David Luraschi, an amazingly talented photographer residing in SF. But check out their work, it will make your Monday better. Promise. Or there is something wrong with your brain.

A Nice Idea Everyday (side note: great name, isn’t it?) consists of Vivien Weyrauch and Fabian Rottger. Based out of Dortmund, Germany, this dynamic duo experiment with visual styles. Their work is playful and progressive. I particularly like their set of flying things and only wish they had added a llama in mid air or perhaps a table. via Form Fifty Five
