Warhol_Capsules

Here’s the deal folks. I’ve become pretty fascinated/obsessed with time capsules lately. I think its because I live closer to where I grew up and I distinctly remember putting some epherema in a box and burying it somewhere near my elementary school. Now its pretty uncool if I were to go dig it back up, assuming it hasn’t been dug up by a construction company building a condominum named something along the lines of Cherry Bark. Anyhow, I’m thinking of creating another one, this time, filled with good stuff like porn and a 7-11 Obama cup. Now that’s something people would be excited to find, unlike the Curious George doll I left in my last one.

Nevertheless, in my research of time capsules, I came across an interesting find. Andy Warhol kept ongoing time capsules, basically stuffing everyday and random items into cardboard boxes. He began in 1974 and most never knew of his capsules until his death in 1987. The Warhol Museum has the collection, but their web site has a great interactive piece on the items in certain boxes. Categorized by content, its interesting to see what he felt was significant enough to put into this box.
